Whether you’re a dunker, as twister or a just-get-in-my-belly-er, Oreo cookies are a beloved treat among both kids and adults alike. While they’re great out of the package, did you know these delectable little sandwiches are pretty easy to make at home?
Simple, delicious and fun, this homemade Oreo recipe makes more topping than you’ll need for a box of chocolate wafer cookies, but you can use the leftovers as a dip for fruit or frosting for cupcakes (though we both know you’ll probably eat it plain #nojudgement).
Easy Homemade Oreos
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Makes 24 cookies
Contributed by: The Real Good Life
Ingredients
1 cup mascarpone cheese
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
1 box chocolate wafer cookies
Instructions
- Using a stand mixer with whisk attachment, whip together cheese, cream and sugar until firm peaks form.
- Using a spatula*, spread one (or more) tablespoons of the cream mixture on to one chocolate wafer cookie. Top with another wafer cookie.
- Store assembled cookies in an air-tight container or plate with plastic wrap in the fridge for 4-8 hours.
Recipe Notes
- *If you want to get fancy, I suppose you could use a pastry bag here instead, but I say it’s not worth all the trouble.
- Cookies get crumbly after too much time in the fridge. Don’t assemble too far in advance.
