Summertime means the city is coming back to life – and so are we! Looking for something fun to do with your friends and family? Here are a few Milwaukee attractions, places to visit, and other activities for you and your people to enjoy together this summer.

1. Kayak the Milwaukee River

Milwaukee’s Riverwalk offers gorgeous sights, great food, and other fun spots along its route. Add some extra fun to your tour by taking it via kayak. There are several kayak and watersport rental shops scattered throughout the Riverwalk path. Whether you’re paddling solo or with a group, kayaks are a great way to see new parts of the city while getting some time in the sun as well.

2. Visit the Milwaukee Art Museum

The Milwaukee Art Museum will be safely reopening later this summer. Taking in some art and creative inspiration is a great way to beat the heat. While you’re there, you can take a break between viewing exhibits and collections in the Art Museum’s café.

3. Check Out the Milky Way Drive-In Theatre

If you haven’t heard, Milwaukee now has its very own drive-in movie theatre. The Milky Way Drive-In opened over Memorial Day weekend, and is now offering two family-oriented shows per day as well as a late-night option for teen and adult audiences.

4. Hit the Beach!

Who’s up for a beach day? Living next to Lake Michigan means Milwaukee has several sandy scenes and beachfront parks for everyone to enjoy – over 1,400 acres of beaches and adjacent park areas, to be exact. You can visit one of the city’s 11 urban beach locations or, set out to find one of the hidden, more private banks along the lakefront.

5. Picnic in the Park

From hiking trails and state parks to shady patches of green hidden within the city, Milwaukee offers residents and visitors plenty of top-notch spots. Pack up your favorite foods, snacks, and summertime beverages – some lemonade, perhaps? – and spend some time enjoying a meal in the great outdoors.
