Yesterday, we celebrated 20 years of marriage, and I never expected the day we ended up having. We originally planned on taking a trip down Route 66. With two kids, we never really got to travel just the two of us.
The day started with coming downstairs to find the house filled with pictures from Route 66. This was followed by ricotta pancakes. The kids did research that this is popular in one of the states we would have visited. We were give two cards with pictures of us then and now. Next up was dinner. We had a horseshoe burger popular in Illinois, and dessert was an gooey butter cake popular in St. Louis. The meal was cooked by both of my girls. They even did the dishes.
This festive day ended with a video of pictures of us, past and present, and well wishes from many of our friends and my daughter’s friend that we watched grow up. This anniversary will never be forgotten. I truly feel my daughters made an amazing lemonade out of lemons. My oldest was also completing her college final exams!
