Since I am now homeschooling my two boys, Alex (13) and Aven (6), every Friday is Fun Friday and we work on a fun, artistic project. One project is creating a wishing tree on our front door. We set out a table with paper note cards in the shape of a heart and hand sanitizer. Every day, people from all over stop by to write a wish note. Every time someone leaves a note, our heart tree gets bigger. The past few days we have seen families through our windows, laughing, smiling, dancing and using our home as a backdrop for their TikTok and Instagram videos. It has truly been the highlight of our quarantine. All it took was chalk, cardboard, construction paper, window paint and love. The boys took a photo of me outside of our home, and it has now been shared all over the world with more than 20,000 likes comments and shares. It has even inspired others to decorate their homes, doors, windows and sidewalks.
