Community Pulls Together For Three-Year-Old Boy
Contributed by: Nikki Piskula
Little Jackson is three-years-old and has brain abnormalities and some significant medical issues. One of his biggest issues is epilepsy, which is a seizure disorder.
March 26th was Epilepsy Awareness Day. Purple is the color that represents awareness for the condition. Jackson’s 3K teacher had a fundraiser in February selling purple shirts. We sold over 100 shirts! Everyone was supposed to wear their shirts on March 26th to support Jackson and our family. Unfortunately, the Safer At Home order was in place. However, even with everyone in quarantine due to the virus, our community still wore purple shirts and posted it on Facebook. We had a huge outreach of people wearing purple at home and sharing it through social media! It was so touching for our family!
50,000 people die each year from epilepsy. It’s an illness that needs more awareness. This was so heartwarming to see the incredible support for epilepsy awareness for Jackson and all the other epilepsy warriors!
