The first documented cases of COVID-19 in Wisconsin were back in March of 2020. That was when Pat was diagnosed. He was hospitalized for 10 days and was on a ventilator for part of that time. It was a very scary time for Pat and our family and we will be forever grateful for his recovery.

Pat has since recovered from COVID-19 and as a result, he has the antibodies that the body uses to fight off that infection in his blood. In May, Pat started donating his convalescent plasma. The donation of 825ml takes an hour. He donated weekly for 4 weeks.

This week, Pat completed his second round of donations. Each time Pat donated he relived his hospital experience with COVID-19 and the feelings of fear, loneliness, and despair came flooding back. He is very happy that his donations will save 32 others from having to ever experience what he did, and that is his silver lining – helping people he will never meet.

Pat, you are truly a hero – Thank you!
